FAQ on Passkey Authentication

1. I registered for Passkey and saved it in Samsung Pass, but after registering, I received a message saying, "I have opted not to use a Passkey, or the device does not support it." Why is that?

Please use Google Password Manager instead of Samsung Pass.

Please go to "Settings" -> " General Management" - > "Passwords, passkeys, and autofill", click on "Preferred service" and update to "Google".

3. How to manage the passkey on my iPhone?

For iOS 18+

Setting 1: Check Whether Passkey is Enabled:

  • Go to Settings > General > AutoFill & Passwords.
  • Ensure that AutoFill Passwords and Passkeys are enabled.

  • Go to Settings > Passwords > Password Options.
  • Ensure that AutoFill Passwords and Passkeys are enabled.

4. I'm accessing the application, but my desktop is prompting me with a QR code. What should I do?

Use the registered passkey device to scan the QR code and authenticate.

5. I've upgraded my iPhone. How can I transfer my passkey from the old iPhone to the new iPhone or non-Apple device?

Scenario 1: Turn on Passkey Sync to iCloud on iPhone:

  • If you're using the same Apple ID, enable passkey sync by going to Settings > Your iCloud Account > Press "Passwords" under "Saved to iCloud" and enable "Sync this iPhone".

Scenario 2: Disabled Passkey Sync:

  • If you do not wish to sync the passkey through iCloud, re-registration is required.
  • Please use this link Re-register Passkey to set up your new iPhone device.

Scenario 3: Transfer to another non-Apple device

  • Please use this link Re-register Passkey for setting up your new non-Apple device.
  • After your new device has registered the passkey, the passkey on your previous device will no longer be valid.

6. I've upgraded my Android device. How can I transfer my passkey from the old Android to the new Android device or Apple device?

Scenario 1: Turn on Passkey Sync to Google on Android:

  • Step 1: If you're using the same Google account, enable passkey sync by going to Settings > Accounts > Google Account > tap on Account sync and check that Google Play Services and Google are enabled for syncing.
  • Step 2: Go to Settings > Security > Password Manager / Auto-fill services, find an option to sync your passwords with your Google account. Ensure that the sync switch is turned on.

Scenario 2: If not turned on sync:

  • Please use this link Re-register Passkey or click "Re-register Passkey & Reset Preference" from the login page to re-register your Android new device.

Scenario 3: Transfer to another Apple device

  • Please use this link Re-register Passkey for setting up your new Apple device.
  • After your new device has registered the passkey, the passkey on your previous device will no longer be valid.

7. What occurs if I switch my phone from iPhone to Android or vice versa?

Please use this link Re-register Passkey or click "Re-register Passkey & Reset Preference" from the login page to re-register your new device.

8. I received a prompt stating that there are no matching passkeys saved in iCloud Keychain for "sps3.dmzcorp.hkjc.org.hk".

This is because you're not using the registered device to authenticate the passkey. Please use the registered device to scan the QR code or access the application to authenticate using passkey.

If the users changed their devices and wanted to re-register the device, they can use this link Re-register Passkey or click "Re-register Passkey & Reset Preference" from the login page to re-register.

9. How can I delete the old remembered device from my desktop Google Chrome browser?

The user can click on "Manage devices", then choose the device they want to remove and click "Delete".

10. My desktop browser only displays the message "Insert your security key and touch it".

This indicates that your desktop is not supported (possibly due to the absence of Bluetooth). You can simply click "Cancel" and use email OTP to log in instead.

13. I logged into the application on my desktop, and it prompted me to register a Passkey. I clicked "YES" to proceed, and after entering my credentials and OTP, nothing happened.

After entering your credentials and OTP, please check the taskbar for a prompt that you need to click on. Follow the steps to select "Use another device" and then choose "iPhone, iPad, or Android device". A QR code will then appear. Use your desired mobile device to scan it and create the Passkey on that device.
